Elwyn C. "Ellie" Fiebelkorn Friday, March 23, 1934 - Saturday, May 6, 2017

Town of Leon - Elwyn C. “Ellie” Fiebelkorn, 83, of the Leon-New Albion Road, Town of Leon, NY, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was born March 23, 1934 in the Town of Napoli, the son of the late Herman and Pearl Covedill Fiebelkorn. Ellie attended Randolph Central School. He retired from Ellington Hardwood in 1995, where he served as a maintenance mechanic. Earlier on he had worked for the Ken Bromley Bulk Milk Service as a truck driver and mechanic. He then served the Town of Leon in the mid 1970’s as Highway Superintendent and also endured the Blizzard of 1977. Ellie was a former member of the Leon Rod & Gun, where he served as a past president, former member of the Leon Volunteer Fire Department and the Randolph Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed snowmobiling, spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Ellie was recently recognized by the Leon Historical Society for his racing history. He won the 1955 Race at the former Penny Royal Race Track in Leon. He will be remembered best for his mechanical abilities and being known as Mr. fix it. He is survived by his wife, Ida M. Austin Fiebelkorn, whom he married in 1964, three daughters; Laura Roth and Lynelle (Josh) Delahoy all of Conewango Valley, Tina Wheeler of Jamestown, two sons; Craig (Jamie) Fiebelkorn of NC and Joel (Sheila) Fiebelkorn of Leon, a sister; Ann Miller of Bradford, Pa., 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Beckstrom and two brothers; Clair “Jim” Fiebelkorn and Lester “Bud” Fiebelkorn. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (May 10, 2017) from 4-7 P.M in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, from where Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Rev. Kenneth Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in the Treat Memorial Cemetery in the Town of Leon.
